When to use webp to jpg
- Prepare WebP images for software that expects JPG.
- Meet a form’s JPG-only requirement.
How it works
Decode the WebP, draw it over a white canvas, and encode as image/jpeg. Output type is checked to detect unsupported encoders.
Supported inputs and limits
WebP input only. Animated WebP is rejected. JPG has no transparency, so transparent pixels become white. Conversion uses lossy JPEG encoding.
Safety limits are 25 MiB / 32 megapixels on desktop and 12 MiB / 12 megapixels on touch or low-memory devices, with a maximum side of 8,192 pixels. A smaller limit does not guarantee success on every device. Clear the image to release its preview and output.
Common questions
Is this lossless?
No. JPG uses lossy encoding. A high quality setting reduces visible changes but cannot promise identical pixels.
Will it convert animated WebP?
No. Animation is rejected so frames are not silently lost.
